New Directions Veterans Choir Documentary Video Jun 02

Hi Friend,

It’s been a while since I have posted on here. Things have been quite busy around here.

We are in the process of building another website from scratch. It’s coming along slowly, but the goal is to have it completely up by the end of this summer!! Who knows, if things go better than expected it could be sooner. :)

So, with that said, I just couldn’t help myself. Last night, I was incredibly inspired by the New Directions Veterans Choir on TV. I wanted to learn more about who they were so I could share with you more about these amazing Veterans.

They are an a-cappella choir consisting of former homeless vets based in Los Angeles, CA through the New Directions, Inc. (a veteran rehabilitation center).

I also found an inspirational video on youtube which was shot in the spring of 2006. However, the embedding is disabled on this video.

Even though the embedding is disabled, I feel that this documentary deserves to be seen by MILLIONS of people and that is why I am giving you the direct link to this very inspiring video below:

Inspirational Video “We Are Made As One”

by Philip Eastman

The 10 minutes spent watching “We are Made as One” is well worth it.
Go ahead and take the time to click on over to Philip Eastman’s youtube channel and then come back here and let us know what you thought.

And as always, remember, no matter what, don’t lose faith and never give up!!

Our Lives and Sand Castles Jul 06

Hi there!

Today, July 6th, in History:

The dollar is unanimously chosen as the monetary unit for the USA 1785.

John Paul Jones born 1747.

John Flaxman born 1755.

Today’s (July 6th’s) Inspirational Thoughts about our lives:

No man likes to acknowledge that he has made a mistake in the choice of his profession, and every man worthy of the name will row long against wind and tide before he allows himself to cry out, “I’m baffled!” and submit to be floated passively back to land.     –Charlotte Bronte.

There is nothing so small but that we honor God by asking His guidance of it, or insult Him by taking it into our hands.   –John Ruskin.

If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me,
And thy right hand shall hold me.

–Psalm 139: 9, 10

Sand Castles

sand castle

You’ve watched it, too. I know I’m not the first or only person who has seen it. But there is a lesson in it that we both may have overlooked.

There are some children on a beach. They’re playing and  giggling, building sand castles all the while. They seem so intent on the project.

You get amused at how meticulous and careful they are with crumbly corners and towers.  The looks on their faces as they screw their mouths around and stick out their tongues make you smile. Their resolute concentration on the task is priceless.

Then a big wave begins building and starts toward shore. But the kids don’t panic.  Instead, they do the strangest thing. They jump to their feet, scream with delight, and watch the torrent of water wash away their creations.  There is no panic. No sadness. No bitterness. Even children know the inevitable end of sand castles. They are neither surprised nor angry about what has happened.

You and I should be so wise. The stuff of this world is about as lasting and durable as children’s sand castles on the beach. Yet we grownups can get so caught up in it, defensive of it, and depressed over the loss of it.

God didn’t create you to be famous, get rich, live in the biggest house, or drive the fanciest car. He created you for His glory. He put you in the world to love people and do holy things. Your destiny is not bound up in physical things, but spiritual. So living to be a hundred is far less important than living well, even if for a short time. Beautifying your body is far less urgent than purifying your soul.

Children know that their sand castles are brief joys destined to disappear with an incoming tide. So they don’t fret as the waves approach. They watch their creations get swept away without shedding tears. Again, we should be so wise.

Everything about this life is fleeting and perishable. The incoming wave of human mortality is going to sweep it all away. Like sand castles, nothing done for the sake of this world can last. Only what we do for eternity will survive.

What would the loss of your job or business do to you? What if your house were lost to fire or storm? What if a strange pain sent you to your physician and led to the discovery that you have only a few weeks to live? These things really do happen to people, you know. We are all as vulnerable as sand castles.

Life is God’s gift. Revel in every good thing. But as you enjoy your creations in the sand, just remember not to get overly attached to them.     ~ author unknown ~

Today’s Prayer for our lives:

My Father, I pray that I may have wise judgment and use discretion in
the choice of my work. May I remember that only that  is genuine which is received and used for Thee. Help me to remember, no matter what, not to lose faith and to never give up! Amen.

Thank you for reading today’s inspirational thoughts! I would love to hear what you thought, especially of the Sand Castle story. Have a blessed day and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Your Friend,

DL Faith

If I had my life to live over Jun 13

Hi Friend,

I got this email from a close friend of mine today about if I had my life to live over by Erma Bombeck and I wanted to share it with you. Cool

Before I share it with you though, this email got me to thinking about how life passes us by so quickly and like Erma, as I get older, it seems that the little things that used to bug me, are now precious memories. Sometimes, I wonder if I had been able to see back then, what I know now, how I would have treated my life differently. The things that seemed so important back then are not the things that are important to me now. I now don’t worry over the little things as much and my life is so much happier. I know we cannot change our past though but by faith, I am able to make the best of each and every day I have left to live on this earth. I love making a difference in people’s lives and sharing inspiration with others is part of that. I hope today, as you reflect on your past it is for the purpose of living a better tomorrow.

check the rearview mirror but only for a momentTo me, I think of it like this: If we focus on our past for too long, it’s like being the driver of a car who is constantly looking in the rearview mirror. That driver, while looking in the rearview mirror is an important part of driving, will inevitably crash if this becomes their sole driving technique. It is important to check the rearview mirror but more importantly the driver of the car needs to keep their eyes on the road ahead to avoid a crash. This will keep you safe and that is an illustration that helps me when I get stuck starring for long lengths of time at my past. I always remind myself, that I need to take the lessons I have learned from my past, and use them to better my future. I hope you take time to look in the rearview mirror just long enough to keep driving forward into a bright and happy future, the kind of future that you can then look back at just long enough to know that where you have come from has made a difference in the lives of those around you who you love.

Ok, now for the Erma Bombeck email, here it is:

If I had my life to live over by Erma Bombeck:

  • I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.
  • I would have eaten the popcorn in the GOOD” living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
  • I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
  • I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up! on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
  • I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
  • I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.
  • I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
  • I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I wasn’t there for the day.
  • I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn’t show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
  • Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I’d have cherished every moment realizing that the wonderment growing inside me was! The only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
  • When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, “Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.”
  • There would have been more “I love you’s” and more “I’m sorry’s” but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute…..look at it and really see it … live it. And never give it back.

Have a blessed day and remember, always, no matter what, don’t lose faith and never give up!

Your Friend,

DL Faith

P.S. Don’t forget to let me know your thoughts about … If I had my life to live over… I look forward to hearing from you. Smile

Faith- What does it mean? May 24

Each day that goes by leaves me wondering what faith means. As I reflected on the word faith, I came up with an acronym for the word.
F=Forgiven
A=As
I=I
T=Trust
H=Him!
So what exactly does this acronym have to do with Faith? I believe that God wants us to trust Him which is part of faith. In the book of Mark chapter 2:3-5 tells us: “Some men came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” ”
So trusting Him and having the strong faith to do what seemed impossible because of all the obstacles standing in their way, gave the paralytic more than what he probably could even imagine. Jesus not only healed his paralysis, but He forgave him of his sins.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So to me trusting in Him is part of faith and as I trust Him, I am forgiven because that is why Jesus died, to forgive all of us of our sins. God loves us so much that He allowed His only begotten Son to die for all of our sins so we could all have eternal life. He loves me and you and everyone that has ever lived and all those who will live after us.
This realization of what faith means and my thoughts on faith today leaves me in awe of God’s love for us.
I would like it if you would leave your inspirational thoughts about what faith means to you and what you think about my idea of what faith is.
May today this acronym that I came up with inspire you to know that not only me, but all of us can say: With faith I am ‘forgiven as I trust Him’.
And of course, as always, no matter what, don’t lose faith and never give up!
I look forward to hearing from you below.
In His Love,
DL Faith

Trouble May 20

Troubles surround us on a daily basis. Does that mean we should run away from these troubles in life? Does it mean we should think about them and let them consume our daily thoughts?  The Book of Psalms tells us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1.

If we let the problems and troubles in our life consume us, it makes most all of the people around us unhappy. It spreads like a disease causing only pain and anguish to those we are close to and especially to ourselves. If we take the things in this life, that are bringing us down and causing us such anguish, to our Lord God in prayer, the troubles may still be there, but getting through them will become a LOT easier.

The reason I am talking about troubles today is because I needed to remind myself not to be consumed by the troubles in my life. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder to me that, yes, troubles will come, but with them coming, they also will go. There is a time for everything in life including troubles. And through each of these times, our lives become a brighter testimony to those who go through those same type of things after us. We can be there for those people, with sympathy,truly knowing what they are going through because we have already been there and know that we can offer them a hand of encouragement to help them get through there tough times.

So, it may seem like the worse thing in the world to have to go through times of trouble, but remember, always, no matter what, don’t lose faith and never give up.

Your Friend,

DL Faith
