P.S. Just for fun, those of you who are interested in the history of emails, here is some fun email facts:
Did you know??
- Emails have come a long way since their inception in 1965 when multiple users of a time-sharing mainframe computer used email to communicate. SDC’s Q32 and MIT’s CTSS were two of the first email systems. Emails were quickly extended to become network e-mail, allowing people to send messages via computers by 1966. However, because the beginning era of emails are a little unclear, it is possible that SAGE was using an email system earlier than this. Although the history of emails pre-dated the internet, when the internet became a realization, it was natural for emails to become a hit for millions of people across the globe.
Did you know??
- When people access the Internet, their Internet Service Provider (ISP) will usually assign a unique email address to them. An email address consists of a unique user name followed by an @ sign which is then followed by the ISP’s domain address. Once on the Internet, people can also use free email services such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and the like to be able to access their emails from wherever they gain Internet access. It is harder to access your main ISP email accounts when you are not connecting from that provider, such as when someone is at work or on a vacation where free internet access is provided.
