Devotional:
UNDER THE SHADOW OF HIS WINGS
Now Jesus arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s (Peter’s) house. But Simon’s mother in-law was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.
(“Please heal her”, everyone begged. NLT)
So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them. Lk. 4:38-39 NKJV
After a day of powerful teaching in the synagogue, and casting out demons with all authority, Jesus went to Peter’s house. Here we find the saints making intercession on behalf of Pete’s mother in-law, a sister in the Lord.
Moved to put love in action, Christ answered their request, and stood over her.
That is to say with all power He assaulted the fever, turned it back and
commanded it to leave.
She was immediately filled with strength and began to serve the Lord and His saints.
Meditate on how awesome it is knowing that God is near at hand and that we can boldly approach the Lord to strengthen our self in Him, or on behalf of people who have no strength to do it themselves,
Even when a person does not want any help by all outward appearances we can still bring them before the Lord in prayer and our request is heard!
Earnest prayers are not about formulating elegant words,
or assuming a proper position.
There is no efficient way to please God;
however, that which is pleasing to Him is done in Spirit and truth,
We as people confuse efficient with effective. While efficient means doing things the right way, effective is doing what is right. The Lord is not looking for efficient Christianity, He is however pleased with the effective, fervent prayers from a righteous child of His.
Knowing that He loves us and has already answered before we ask
We may honestly seek Him with thanksgiving without fear,
anxiety, pomp, or pageantry,
Because He delights in deliverance
let us be bold to
draw near and cry out to the Lord in faith,
and come boldly under the Shadow of His Wings..
